Japanese ritual
OR HOW THE DOLL WORKS

if the wish did not come true
What to do if your wish doesn't come true?
According to ancient Japanese tradition, a Daruma doll is burned in the temple where it was purchased. This is not a sign of abandoning a dream, but a symbol of renewal—the person asks a saint to help them find a new path. After the ritual, they buy a new doll, paint one eye on it, and continue moving toward their goal.
But today a good alternative has appeared.
In 2020, a girl named Dasha suggested returning Daruma dolls to nature instead of burning them. Now, each doll is filled with a pine seed and a little peat. If a wish doesn't come true, the doll is buried in the ground , and a new tree grows from it.
Daruma is made of paper, meaning it easily returns to nature. This is how the idea for the Daruma Garden was born, where every dream gives birth to a new sprout.

if the wish came true
There is no single correct answer to this question - it all depends on you.
Once the doll has fulfilled its purpose, you can choose:
Leave it as a keepsake - as a symbol of the goal achieved.
Burn it, following the ancient Japanese tradition of renewal.
To plant is to give life to a new tree from the seed inside and create your own garden.

step 1
Make a goal - formulate something specific
desire or task.

step 2
Paint one eye - traditionally the left one - to "bring life" to the doll and start the process.

step 3
Put it in a prominent place - the doll reminds you of
goals and motivates you not to give up.

step 4
Act for the purpose - the doll itself does not "fulfill"
and helps to maintain focus.

step 5
Reach the goal and color the second eye -
a ritual of completion, a symbol of gratitude and success.

step 6
The doll is made of paper
(papier-mâché). Inside
Pine seed. Don't burn the doll, but grow a tree.
